Sebastian Conte chose his last name to be the new name: Conte’s Bar and Pizzeria (It used to be called Witherspoon Bar). He had the red tiles spell out “Conte’s” which used to be centered before the bar was shortened in the 1970’s to make room for more kitchen space.
The person Sebastian hired to build the bar insisted that Sebastian was allocating too much space between the back counter and the bar. Sebastian insisted that there be plenty of space so that customers could not reach over and grab the liquor bottles.
Sebastian opened up Witherspoon Bar (later called Conte’s Bar) in a different part of the building. The newer part (on the left) was being built and is the current Conte’s area.
